Reports to: Manager, Business Intelligence

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with all levels of business, with varying levels of technical knowledge, to gather accurate and actionable business and technical requirements.
  • Assist in building team-wide MicroStrategy center of excellence.
  • Analyze short term reporting requirements to architect appealing, usable long term dashboard and reporting solutions, develop solutions as necessary.
  • Create, modify, and optimize advanced SQL code including subqueries, CTEs, temporary tables, etc.
  • Optimize existing MicroStrategy infrastructure with a focus on usability, performance, long-term, flexibility, and standardization.
  • Conduct validation of existing reporting and new solutions to ensure continuous accuracy and front end ease-of-use.
  • Administer MicroStrategy server and client environments including environment optimization and troubleshooting for MSTR desktop and web configurations as needed.
  • Manage priorities to meet deadlines in a high-energy environment.
  • Performs other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of recent MicroStrategy development experience.
  • 5+ years of Business Intelligence development experience, utilizing tools such as: MicroStrategy, Hyperion, QlikView, IBM Cognos, OBIEE, Business Objects Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, or the Microsoft BI Suite.
  • MicroStrategy Certified Project Designer (CPD) required.
  • Experienced with optimizing SQL against at least one of the major and/or open source RDMS systems, such as: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL.
  • Strong technical knowledge of SQL and data analysis skills a must.
  • Proven requirements gathering and long-term solution development experience.
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to interface with business and IT organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a short-cycle, team-oriented environment, managing multiple priorities, and tasks.
  • High energy, team player, and creative thinker.
  • Maturity, good judgment, analytical skills, and hands-on technical skills.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to identify non-obvious solutions to complex problems.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Experience with Hyperion and QlikView reporting preferred.
  • MicroStrategy Certified Engine Specialist (CES).
  • Experience in the Financial sector a plus.
